Acne Treatment – An Insight

There are so many different types of acne treatments available for you to use at home, in the office or in the dermatologist office, so it is important to understand the difference between natural and chemical acne treatments. Chemical based acne treatments are usually used when you are having severe acne breakouts while natural treatments can be used to prevent any further outbreaks of acne on your skin. If you are suffering from acne that is not responding to your usual acne treatment then there is a proven natural acne treatment that will prevent further outbreaks of acne while curing your acne in the process. If your acne is more than a few days old and has not responded well to standard acne treatments, then it is recommended that you visit your doctor or dermatologist for a prescription for an acne treatment which may include a topical gel or cream. You will be given different types of acne treatment gel such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and even sulfur. All of these ingredients are designed to help heal your skin faster and also reduce the risk of scarring.

However, when you go to the dermatologist for a prescription for an acne treatment it is advisable to go for topical gel or cream that is formulated for treating acne and not just preventing further outbreaks. The reason why acne treatments which are only designed to kill the bacteria responsible for acne breakouts can be a bad thing is because bacteria can be transferred into other parts of the body including the hair. This can make it extremely difficult for someone to get rid of their acne completely once they have got it. This is why it is very important to treat the bacteria that cause acne as early as possible and stop them multiplying. Once they multiply it becomes very difficult to get rid of the acne completely and you will end up with scars instead.

A good topical treatment acne gel or cream will contain all of the above mentioned ingredients together along with one or two other ingredients. The purpose of using an acne gel or cream is to not only help the acne to heal faster and to prevent scarring but also to treat the bacteria that causes acne. Most treatments contain one or two ingredients, which include retinol and salicylic acid, both of which are excellent for attacking bacteria causing acne. They are applied onto the affected area where the acne is located and are left to do their work for an hour or two before being washed off.

Some products also contain benzoyl peroxide and sulfur. Benzoyl peroxide works by killing the bacteria that causes acne, however it also has an antibacterial effect which helps reduce the inflammation that causes scars. It is important to note though that the longer the benzoyl peroxide remains on your skin the more it will be able to dry out your skin therefore it may be advised that you take the product off before washing your face.

Another ingredient which is commonly found in acne creams and gels is sulfur, which is a natural astringent. Although it is best to leave sulfur on for only twenty-four hours before taking it off or washing it off because too much can cause skin drying.
